Stays on this device · pdf-lib in this tab

1-based, comma-separated. Each range becomes one PDF. Ignored when “Every N pages” is selected.

Privacy: your PDF is read only in this tab’s memory. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. Soft limit: ~25 MiB per file. Verify in DevTools on the trust page.

How to split a PDF on this page

  1. Drop one PDF into the box above, or click to choose it. The page count appears once it loads in memory.
  2. Choose By page ranges and type ranges such as 1-3, 4-10, 11, or choose Every N pages (for example every 1 page to burst a PDF into single pages, or every 2 for two-page parts).
  3. Press Split on this device. Each part appears as its own download link, named like report-part-2-pages-4-10.pdf.
  4. Open each part before you send it and check the first and last page.

What happens to your file

The browser reads the PDF with the File API. pdf-lib, served from this site, copies the pages for each range into a new document. Each download is a blob: URL created in the tab. There is no server step and no queue. You can confirm in DevTools → Network: see the trust check.

Honest limits

Split, extract, or remove?

Split makes several files. If you want one file with only some pages, use remove PDF pages (it can also keep only the pages you pick). To put parts back together in a new order, use merge PDF. A longer walk-through of ranges is in the split and extract guide.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?

No. Splitting runs in this tab with pdf-lib. The page loads its HTML, CSS, and scripts from this site, but the document bytes are not sent anywhere by the tool.

How do I split a PDF into single pages?

Choose Every N pages and set it to 1. You get one download per page, up to 500 per run.

Can I get all parts as one ZIP file?

Not in this version. Each part is a separate download link. The site does not bundle a ZIP library.

Can ranges overlap?

Yes. Each comma-separated range becomes its own file, so 1-5, 3-8 gives two files that both contain pages 3 to 5.

Will bookmarks and signatures survive?

Usually not. Each part is a fresh page-copy PDF. Check anything that depends on signatures or bookmarks in a full PDF reader.

Is there a page or size limit?

The soft limit is about 25 MiB per file and 500 parts per run. The real limit is your device memory; phones fail sooner on large files.
