Remove PDF pages without uploading

Blank pages, duplicate scans, and “please drop page 7” requests show up constantly. Upload removers receive the whole file. LocalPdfMerge builds a new PDF in your tab that copies only the pages you keep. This guide is the long-form version of the remove PDF pages tool.

A worked remove: drop blanks from a twelve-page packet

You have a 12-page packet. Pages 4 and 9 are blank. On remove PDF pages, drop the file. Tick pages 4 and 9 (or type 4, 9). Leave Remove selected pages chosen. Create PDF on this device. You get a 10-page download; remaining pages stay in document order.

Open the result and skim past the old gaps. The original on disk is untouched — the browser cannot overwrite it. If you misticked a page, drop the source again and rebuild; there is no undo stack beyond Clear.

Keep-only: one extract instead of several splits

Need pages 1–3 as a single attachment? Tick or type 1-3, choose Keep only selected pages, and create. That is one PDF with those pages in order. It differs from split PDF, which emits a separate download per range and never a ZIP. For multiple separate files (handout + appendix as two blobs), prefer split or the home Split / extract tab — see split / extract guide.

Remove PDF pages without uploading — steps

  1. Open the remove tool.
  2. Drop one PDF. Soft guidance ~25 MiB. A numbered picker appears for files up to 500 pages; longer files still work via typed ranges.
  3. Select pages with the picker or ranges such as 2, 4-6. Picker and text box stay in sync.
  4. Choose Remove selected or Keep only selected.
  5. Create PDF on this device, download, and open it. Optional: trust Network check.

Not redaction — read this twice for private data

Removing a page means that page’s content is not copied into the new file. That is useful for dropping a whole private sheet. It is not redaction of text on pages you keep. Hidden text, annotations, and metadata on kept pages remain. Cropping margins is also not redaction — see crop guide. If you must black out phrases on a kept page, use a certified redaction product elsewhere, then decide whether this tool still fits for page drops.

Honest limits on local remove

Remove vs split vs home extract

Use remove when the goal is one cleaned PDF (delete blanks or keep a contiguous set). Use split when you need several downloads from ranges or every-N burst (no ZIP). Use the home Split / extract tab when you want comma-separated ranges each as its own download from the same UI as merge. All three stay local; none claim redaction or signature preservation.

Email size and ticket caps

Dropping unused pages can shrink what you attach, but this tool does not compress. If the kept pages are still too large for mail or a ticket, extract fewer pages or shrink the source elsewhere. Compress-as-hero is out of scope for this experiment.

After you download

Open the file. Check page count and the first/last kept page. Rename the download before sharing if the recipient needs a clear name. Keep the source until you are sure. Closing the tab clears the in-memory selection; we have no library to restore it. Corrections to this guide: contact (do not email the PDF).

Private page vs private phrase

If an entire sheet should not leave your desk, removing that page from the new file is the right local move on this site. If a phrase on a page you must keep is the problem, stop — this tool will not black it out. Do not crop hoping the phrase is gone; read the crop honesty section.

Publisher stance on what we do not claim (redaction, 等保, e-discovery): about. How to verify no upload: trust.

Check the result before you attach it

Open the download. Confirm page count matches what you expect (12 minus 2 blanks = 10). Skim the seam where a blank used to sit so you did not also drop a real page. Rename the file if the recipient needs a clear name.

Keep the source packet until you are sure. Closing the tab clears the picker. We cannot email the cleaned PDF back — we never received it.

FAQ

Can I remove PDF pages without uploading?

Yes. Drop one PDF on the remove page, select pages, and create the result in the tab. Confirm with trust.

Is remove the same as redaction?

No. Dropped pages are omitted from the new file, but kept pages are not blacked out. Crop is also not redaction.

Can I keep only selected pages?

Yes. Choose Keep only selected pages for one PDF containing just those pages in order.

Are there page thumbnails?

No. The picker is numbers only (up to 500 pages). Longer files use typed ranges.

Will signatures survive?

Usually not. The output is a new page-copy document. Keep signed originals when policy requires them.

Can I delete every page?

No. At least one page must remain or the tool errors.
